Architectural Aluminum Railing Manufacturer Completes Fourth Major New York City Restoration Project
ERIE, Pennsylvania - November 4, 2011 - Sterling Dula Architectural Railings, a division of the Kane Manufacturing Corporation and the KaneSterling family of architectural products, recently announced the completion of their fourth railing replacement for the Long Island Rail Road’s (LIRR) major, multi-station restoration project. The Queens Village Station in Queens, New York, now features the latest Sterling Dula system, custom-designed for the LIRR. “Prior to Queens Village, we fabricated a total of 7,500 linear feet of railing for the Stoneybrook, Farmingdale and Bethpage train stations,” said Sterling Dula Project Manager, Shawn Joline. “For the Queens Village project, just a few slight modifications were made to that previous design, followed by fabrication and assembly right here in our manufacturing facility.”
Today, Queens Village Station boasts 1,605 feet of strong and sturdy Sterling Dula aluminum railing. The railing itself, categorized by Sterling Dula as “custom picket-style rail,” features an anodized finish to withstand the elements. This special finish also allows the railing to endure normal, everyday wear and tear. Transporting more than 80 million passengers each year over 700 miles of track, the Long Island Rail Road is considered the busiest commuter railroad in North America.
